The historic Red Cross Building in Jacksonville Beach serves the Lifeguards as base

The ARCVLSC is the oldest – and now the only – continuously operating volunteer life saving corps in the United States. The members of the Corps are justifiably proud of their record of thousands of lives saved and distressed swimmers assisted over their century of service. As a historic building on the ocean, upkeep has been expensive and yet it is still functional and houses the JAX Beach lifeguard equipment and our brave lifeguards meet there. I have always thought it was a cool building and over the years it has been an inspiration for my fine art photo illustrations. Prints available upon demand.
