From Black and White painting to color

While teaching painting at the Neptune Beach Senior Activity Center, I decided to teach a technique of painting the entire painting in Black, grey and white and then slowly using color glazes to bring out the vibrancy. With overlapping thin glazes of various color washes, the depth and vibrancy of color becomes much richer than if I had used thicker and heavier colors. The downside is that it is more tedious and having to let the various color layers dry before applying the next layers takes a lot of time. We worked on this project for nearly 2 months.
