Recent Photographic Illustrations of Northern California

Since my two boys live in the Santa Cruz Bay area in California, I take a couple vacations a year to visit them. The beauty of northern California is so different from where I live now in Florida. Since I grew up in California (Los Angeles, Newport Beach, San Diego and Carmel), I have such a sweet spot for the Pacific Ocean.
Recently, a collector asked if I had any photographic illustrations of the area and I put this collection together for her.
Prints range from 26.00-125.00 (to 16×20″) and can also do very large custom prints on archival papers, canvas and Metal.

Making some beach scene altered photography into aluminum prints

I will have a tent art booth at ARTS IN THE DARK on April 22 in Atlantic Beach, Florida. Its a beautiful park and usually a great turnout beneath the pines.
I will be selling smaller items like hand painted glasses, pillows with my artwork on them, prints and aluminum prints of some paintings and also photo artwork. I opted for 8×10 size on most of these so they will be affordable.

Fine Art Photography ~ Architectural Elements

Known also as “photographic art“, “artistic photography” and so on, the term “fine art photography” has no universally agreedĀ meaning or definition: rather, it refers to an imprecise category of photographs, created in accordance with the creative vision of the cameraman.

As an artist, whether I am expressing myself through my camera lens or by painting on a canvas, I try to create images that lend some mystery or evoke an emotion. I find shapes in many man-made and architectural structures. Framing and cropping is done rather instinctually as I click the shutter. Then in post production, I find opportunities to add drama, texture and tinting which in turn helps me express an emotion attached to that particular image. Each capture is so unique to the moment it was shot. Enhancing the feeling I had when I shot the image, becomes the varnish.

My camera is still my go to tool to express my take on my environment. I am fortunate to live in an island community. Many of my photographs are altered in Photoshop when I feel I need to enhance the image to create the emotion I felt at the time of the capture. Sometimes, I add textures or paint in my computer painting software programs like Painter and Impressions. Tinting and cropping, adding borders and also taking small sections to enhance just a small area. Sometimes hours are spent working on photographic alterations. I even offer clients this when doing family portraits for instance. Each photo has an emotion attached to it and as an artist, I feel that it takes the image to another level. Hope you like these.

Altered and Tinted Nautical Photographs

Growing up sailing and being around sail and motorboats has always given me a respect for the sea. Some of my photos from my travels and experiences have inspired me to bring a little painting and tinting to the table. Some of these utilized painter, and impressions software where I painted, added textures and tints making a more artistic statement. Enjoy. Prints on demand....just inquire.

Local beach scenes digitally painted from original photographs

As an artist and photographer, I like to alter my photographs on occassion to become illustrations. I own several computer painting softwares that I can open up midtones, spread lines, colorize and tint areas to appear more illustrated. Its tedious but I love the creativity and myriad of unique options. I can sprend hours making minute decisions to enhance and alter a photo. I am printing limited edition prints 11x14 or 16x20 of these on demand. Some would also make nice canvas giclees printed even larger.
