Fine art prints a good alternative to original

Sometimes a art lover will opt for a print of my artwork instead of purchasing the originals. Maybe its a bugetary issue or size concern. For instance the top image came from a painting that is 30x40" and the customer wanted it smaller. I also like the choices of canvas, metal prints, wood prints and prints on thick acrylic plexiglass. www.linda-olsen.pixels.com.

Southern landscape photography

There is something very special about the southern landscape. SO serene looking at the marsh and rivers that flow throughout the region. In small towns, there are only a couple resturants and the food was down home GREAT. Laura's house backs up against a wildlife refuge near Harris Neck. Much of the forest was cut down to get rid of a beetle that has infested the region. Last May, when I visited, there was a line of pine forest at the edge of their property. This time all the trees were gone and we had a more expansive view. I created these images and tinted them a bit when I returned. The panos were made from 3-5 photos that I stitched.

Visiting old friends in Georgia

Nelson and I enjoyed a lovely weekend in Georgia near Darien. It was a cold Saturday when us ladies went shopping in St. Simons. I am not much for shopping but found a cool crochet vest. Reminded me of Sonny Bono... Laura had me paint a little mural for her two cats on the wall near where they eat. Problem was that I am allergic to cats so it was hard with the cats rubbing up on me as I painted. I took a lot of allergy meds over the weekend which took another couple of days for my system to get back to normal when I returned. Laura is a huge fan of art and has a gorgeous collection of paintings, prints and sculptures. Fun weekend!!

Palette Knife expression of Beach Landscape

"Tide Rising" is drying as we speak. It is 40x30" and because palette knife expressions require layers of thick paint, it takes a lot longer to dry. WHile painting it, I have to step back a lot to analyze and see what areas needed to be layered with complimentary hues and paint pastels. I usually use a flat palette so I can load up the various mixed pastels onto the knives and lightly wipe each layer over the previous dried layers. This way the colors don't get muddy. linda-olsen.artistwebsites.com

Southern Landscape Expression for large wall

"Waterway in the Moonlight" is just completed. With the wood frame, it measures 61x41" so will look nice with living room or den decor. Being expressionistic, it will look nice in various decor. It has nuances of various colors especially browns, rust and blues...but abstract enough to not be overwhelming. Contact me if interested. linda-olsen.artistwebsites.com

Happy New Years!!

Happy Holidays to you all. From my house to yours! The little building in my backyard is my painting studio, 14x10 foot with skylights and air conditioning. My husband built it about 8 years ago and its my favorite place to be. I turn on the music and sometimes dance in there. Also at parties, most of my friends end up crowded around it. I am having a new years eve party so plan on doing some dancing under the stars.

Christmas Apple Pie from Scratch

OK.SO I wanted to give back to my followers with an awesome recipe: Homemade Apple Pie Preheat oven to 350 degree. Peel and core 2 lbs of Granny Smith apples and 2 lbs of Braeburn apples. Slice apples and place in large bowl. In a small bowl make a mix of 1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1 t. cinnamon. Toss apple slices with this mixture. Melt 1/2 cup butter (use real butter) with 1 cup packed brown sugar,in a 10 inch cast iron skillet, stirring constantly. It will bubble and thicken. Remove from heat and place one pie crust on top. Then, spoon in all of the apples over this pie crust. Top with another dough pie crust. WHisk an egg white til foaming and brush over piecrust. Put several slits to let steam escape. Sprinkle with a little granulated sugar and Bake for one hour. Then I placed tin foil (oops aluminum, this tells you that I am not a spring chicken) around edges to avoid getting too done. Bake for another 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack for 30 minutes. Yum!!!
