New Palette for Beach paintings inspired by sunset pastels

I have been enjoying a new palette for my beach paintings. The lavenders, pinks and peaches remind me of our biweekly beach outtings with friends. I organized a weekly sunset gathering on our beautiful beaches. No one in the large group can make it every week but try when we can. We all bring chairs and libations and even though the sun sets behind the trees and houses, there is usually a beautiful pink glow to the evening. Living on the East Coast is different than if you can actually see the sun set in the WEST. Growing up in California, it was a ritual to watch for a green flash. Recently I volunteered to help raise money for the lifeguards so two of the paintings have lifeguard chairs. A part donation when sold.

Older Paintings from a decade ago

Just brought these paintings over to a gallery shop in Jacksonville Beach. MOS specializes in flowers, orchids and eclectic beach decor which I felt was a good fit. Under 300.00 for most 18x24". The series is called JOYFUL.

Windy Day paintings ~semi abstract

This series has a lot of very thick acrylic paints, plasters and textures. I did two on thick gallery wrap canvases. One is 60x20 and one is 40x20. I started them when I returned from Jamaica trying to capture the colors of the water and skies. On the trip, the ocean was usually very calm but I imagined a sailboat race where there was a brisk breeze which stirs up the waves.

Two large beach and surf paintings completed

I had this idea in the middle of the night a few weeks ago of imbedding words into an abstract painting of the beach so have finally finished the two paintings. They are 40x30" gallery wraps and are for sale. I did a lot of texture and antique glazes to create the mood that I was looking for. What do you think? I would like to do at least one more but the vision has not yet come.

Mermaid illustrations done for new painting

Before the new mermaid painting is completed, I had fun with completing illustrations to see where I wanted to go. At first this siren was bare breasted and with more color in the background. Then as I worked on the details like fish scales and little fish, I wanted to see if I liked a more muted palette. The final painting is nearly done which actually is more detailed and with more blues. I liked these illustrations and am selling prints at www.fineartamerica.com. I actually liked her bare chested but made her more demure. Living in the South, I have discovered that showing breasts is not acceptible.
