Mermaid caught in a swirl of current Published on November 29, 2016November 29, 2016 by lindaolsen With all 0f the underwater paintings being created inmy painting studio, I also have been working on a sea maiden since before Halloween. I finally finished “Swirling Water” which is 30×40″. Mermaids take a lot longer than my ocean paintings because of the more realistic (expressionistically ) painted. Every brush stroke changes a look especially in the face. Its like her soul and personality emerges. Since mermaids are fantasy, I like the process of inventing the scene. I dont force the look but keep working until I am happy. It was finished just in time for a big show at the Beaches Historical Museum. Opening is Friday evening.
